National Flood Safety Awareness Week

By Uncategorized No Comments

National Flood Safety Awareness Week is March 16-22

“If you don’t like the weather, wait an hour” a common phrase known to Coloradoans.

Colorado is known to have some extreme weather varying from snow, heavy rain/floods, fires, tornadoes etc. It is a great idea to have a disaster plan in place that is not only for your family but your pets also. Some great ideas to keep in mind include having a Rescue Alert Sticker that can be placed in a window so rescue personnel are aware if there are animals inside of a house, also having a safe haven in mind if evacuation is required. The ASPCA has recommendations for emergency supplies and traveling kits, steps to prepare for evacuation, designating certain people as caregivers, special considerations to keep in mind based on geographic location and climate and some helpful tips for birds, reptiles and small mammals like guinea pigs and gerbils. Check out the following websites for some great information.
