August 15 is National Check the Chip Day!

Microchips are a wonderful tool that can aid in a pet’s safe return home. It is a small device, about the size of a rice granule, that is implanted under the skin between the shoulder blades of a pet. Veterinarians and Humane Societies have microchip scanners. If an animal is found with no identifying information, like a collar with tags, the animal can be taken to a vet clinic or humane society where it can be scanned for a microchip. The microchip number can then be looked up and the owner tracked down based on information provided to the microchip database. It is very important to keep information up to date within the database so your beloved pet can make it back home. Anytime you move or change phone numbers make sure you contact the microchip company to get that information updated.

If your pet has a microchip and you want to double check it, stop on by and we will scan your animal’s chip. There is no fee to scan a pet’s microchip. To take advantage of the $10.00 off implantation special, just give us a call or make an online request to set up an appointment. It will only take a few minutes to place the chip and you can then have peace of mind knowing your special friend has a much better chance of making it back to you should they ever get lost.

The microchips that we implant are from HomeAgain. To verify or update the information they have on file for you and your pet please visit their website at or call 1-888-HOMEAGAIN (1-888-466-3242).
